SAILING INSTRUCTION:
From our 10 hour basic introduction class to the week long CRUISE and LEARN sailing certification holiday.

Sleeping Giant Sailing School will be instructing adults in the art of sailing using 20', 36' and 40' sailboats. ISPA certification courses will get you ready to sail your own boat on the Great Lakes or charter bareboat in the Caribbean & worldwide. Competent Crew, Day Skipper and Coastal Navigation will be taught on Superior. Cruise and Learn Lake Superior courses will be liveabord sailing holidays visiting such places as Loon Harbour, Silver Islet, Nipigon River, Red Rock, Rossport, Isle Royale, MI and Grand Marais, MN.

COURSE Descriptions

Basic Sailing Lessons: $249.00. 10 hours of fun filled on the water training. No books, no tests, no homework. This course is for the beginner, anyone who just wants to see if sailing is for them. We supply everything, life jackets, sailing gloves, boats and great instructors. Delivered over two days, this course is the prerequisite for Club Sail Superior in Thunder Bay. Lessons start Victoria Day and are offered every weekend and weekdays upon request until September. Minimum 2 persons required to run a course. If you like sailing and want to continue learning you can use your 10 hours towards your next ISPA certification course, the Competent Crew.

Competent Crew:20 hours of do it yourself at home theory. Followed by 20 sailing hours of hands on instruction. No prerequisite.

Competent Crew course cost is $595.00 or $349.00 if you have previously taken our Basic Sail course.

Our Friday through Sunday intense liveabord Competent Crew course. (Spar Channel, Thompson Island, Pie Island) is all inclusive. (Meals, books, log, on board accommodations)
$695.00 ea. Four students minimum required.

Day Skipper: 20 hours of do it yourself at home theory. Followed by 20 sailing hours of hands on instruction. Requires completion of Competent Crew course.

Our Friday through Sunday intense liveabord Day Skipper course now features Coastal Navigation too. We do the Spar channel, over night at Thompson and practice anchoring in Saywers Bay) is all inclusive. (Meals, books, log, on board accommodations)

Coastal Navigation: Combined with Day Skipper 20 hours of do it yourself at home theory including navigation and chart work verified and corrected by an ISPA instructor, followed by 15 hours of hands on instruction. Coastal Navigation has no prerequisite and may be taken at any time. Great for any boater who wants to venture a little further offshore with confidence.

This course is now combined with the Day SKipper course.
